Importing Contacts

There are times when you may want to import lists of users from a CSV file, for example when preparing for an outbound WhatsApp or SMS marketing campaign.

You can easily upload users from any CSV file by clicking your user profile name in the bottom left of the screen and choosing "Import Contacts"

Now you will see a list of prior imports, and some fields you can fill out to start a new import

1. Select your bot - You must import your contacts into a specific bot you should already have configured. 
2. Select your segments - if you want to automatically add the imported users to one or more segments, you can select the segments you want to use
3. Click Import - begin the import process

4. Click on the "click to upload" area of the screen and choose the CSV file you want to import. Your CSV does not need to be in a specific format (you can map your columns using our import tool), but you will need a unique identifier for each user you import, and that identifier should match the native identifier of the bot (channel) you are uploading to. For SMS and WhatsApp, this will be the fully formatted phone number with country and area code (preceded by a "+"). The following fields can be imported:

5. Once you upload your file, you will be asked to select which row contains the columns headers, or indicate if your file does not have column headers

 Select you rheader row and click next.

6. Map the columns from your spreadsheet to the columns the import can accept

7. Review your data, make any changes, then click Submit

8. That's it! Your users are now imported.
