AI Pricing
The AI features in Flow XO are charged separately from our other features. We provide two options, Flow XO AI credits or "Bring your own API key"
Flow XO AI Credits
As a paid user of Flow XO you are allocated 250 AI credits per month that you can use to consume AI services on Flow XO. Additionally, you can add as many additional credits as you like for $1/100 credits. How much each AI feature costs depends on both the feature, and the language model that you choose.
In general however, Flow XO will charge a set amount of AI credits for each message that is generated by AI (see the exact pricing below for the different types of models).
When should I use Flow XO AI Credits?
Flow XO AI credits are great for trying out our AI features, or if you have a relatively low volume of messages per month.

Flow XO provides access to the premier models from the two leading AI providers, Open AI and Anthropic. For each of the to main AI providers, we offer two variants: small and large. The "small" models (gpt-4o-mini from Open AI and Claude 3 "Haiku" from Anthropic) are fast, extremely cost effective, and capable of handling a wide variety of simple AI tasks such as powering customer service assistants that automate Q&A on your website, simple data intake assistants, and more. The "large" models, gpt-4o from Open AI and Claude 3.5 Sonnet from Anthropic, are much more powerful and much more expensive models, which are available for more advanced AI agents that require complex workflows, rules or reasoning skills.

Use your own Open AI API Key
In addition to using Flow XO AI credits for AI features, you can also add your own Open AI API key.
When should I use my own Open AI API Key
Once you start using AI more heavily in your chatbots, Flow XO AI credits can start to get pretty expensive. Once that happens (or before if you just like saving money), you should switch to using your own Open AI API key. Flow XO charges per message, whereas Open AI charges per "token" - or roughly a part of a word that you send or receive from Open AI. Because Open AI has finery grained pricing, the costs are lower over time.

Pricing for AI Assistants
The AI assistant feature works by orchestrating many different calls to Open AI over the course of a conversation. Each time AI is required to process a response, we will charge you AI credits. If you are using your own Open AI API key, then Open AI will charge you according to their own price list instead. To get a clear picture of how you are being charged for your assistant usage, you can review the Run Log for any given assistant interaction, and you will notice the pricing is clearly shown for each time the AI gets engaged during the conversation:
Getting started with your own Open AI API Key
To obtain an Open AI API key, you will need to sign up on the Open AI website:
Once you have an API key, you can add it to your Flow XO account by clicking on your Name in the main navigation and choosing "Open AI Connections"
Then click "New Open AI Connection"
And enter your new API key into the appropriate field and click "Save".
Once you have associated your Open AI API key, you will be able to use it in any of the Flow XO AI tasks or features by setting the "Language Model Connection" as seen here (in an Assistant configuration in this example)
