Trello
Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, Trello tells you what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a process. It's ideal for mapping out the sales cycle or for project management across teams of people and organisations.
Trello has a useful hierarchical structure that follows the form 'Board', 'List', 'Card', 'Checklist' and 'Comments'. To put that in context, you might create a new board for your overall sales process, which has three lists; 'Prospect', 'Negotiation' and 'Converted'. Every time that I identify a new prospect, I'd then add them as card on the 'Prospect' list. To that card I'll add a checklist with a few items to complete - call the customer and define the requirement, set a budget and invoice them out.
To manage such use, in Flow XO you can trigger on:
- New Board
- New List
- New Card
- New Activity
- New Notification
And you can build flows that allow you to:
- Add, Update or Get a Board
- Add, Update, Get or Delete a Card
- Add a Checklist
- Add a Comment
- Add, Update or Get a List
Connecting Your Account
Connecting your account is easy - you'll just need to click 'Authorize' in the Flow XO 'Authorize the Service' window when setting up your flow action for the first time, then sign in to your Trello account in the window that appears (if you're not already signed in) with your normal Trello account email address and password, then confirm you're happy to connect. You'll be returned to the flow and Trello will be connected to Flow XO.
FAQ
I didn't get a notification when I expected to, or the flow didn't trigger on activity in Trello - what went wrong?
Trello manages notifications based on your administrative status, whether you are a 'Member' or 'Subscriber' status. Notifications are hierarchically controlled based on the structure of Trello itself. You should check that you should be seeing a notification or activity for your action.
Why can't I delete Boards or Lists?
Because Trello is a collaboration tool, deleting objects can have potentially harmful ramifications. As such, only cards may be deleted - boards and lists may be archived only. In Flow XO, you'll see a separate method to 'Delete a Card' which takes an ID input like many of the other methods in Flow XO, but to archive a list a board, you should use the relevant 'Update' task and choose 'Yes' under 'Archive'.

Known Issues
- There is a distinction between creating brand new cards and copying an existing card with a due date. Both exercises will trigger a flow looking for 'New Card', but the 'Due' and 'Due Date' outputs are not be populated when copying.
- Triggering on 'New Activity' does not give a populated output for 'List ID' or 'List Name', so if you wanted to create a flow that returned the details of the list the notification pertained to, you'd need to 'get' the related card first, then use the ID to get the list.
